It all started one year ago today with a picture of 12 beautiful baby Bernese puppies.
I don’t remember how I first saw or heard about Bernese Mountain Dogs, but ever since about the 4th grade I’ve wanted one – badly! My mom always said she’d get me one when I got married, but once Josh and I got engaged, we started looking and found the perfect breeders with a litter due very soon. The plan was to wait until after the wedding, but they’d be ready for homes in April and we just couldn’t resist. We got several pictures updates throughout the next few weeks and when the puppies were about 7 weeks old, we made the trip up to Minnesota to meet them. A few days later we found out which little girl would be coming home with us and yellow girl it was!
At about 7 weeks the puppies had professional photos taken and I mean….. look how stinkin cute!! Can you figure out which one is Miss Piper?!
A week or so later we made the 6 hour drive up and back to bring home our sweet girl!
She totally rocked it and still loves a good road trip! She wasn’t always the easiest puppy. It took her a few weeks to sleep through the night, potty training took what felt like forever, and she was a really nippy puppy that left many bruises and scratches. Now seeing the dog she’s grown into, we’ve almost forgotten about all of the hard times. Sure she rips up some mail, grabs a slipper every so often, wants someone petting her most of the time, pulls all of her toys out of her bin while we’re at work, and still wants to wake up at 6 am every morning. But, she is the best cuddle buddy, walk buddy, car buddy, and just all around the best dog we could’ve ever hoped for. She is great around kids, loves other dogs, and just wants to give hugs, play, do tricks, sit on your lap, and really anything to make us smile. Enjoy the (over) abundance of pictures and Happy Birthday big girl!
